Detailed Itinerary

Day 0, Monday

Depart for Africa

Depart for Moshi, Tanzania - Kilimanjaro International AIrport (JRO).

Day 1, Tuesday

Arusha

Arrive in Tanzania in the early afternoon. Meet and greet, and transfer to our hotel outside the bustling town of Arusha. Unwind from a long day of traveling, meet your hosts, and get to know your fellow travelers before enjoying a wonderful welcome dinner.

Days 2-5, Wednesday - Shabbos

Safari in the Serengeti

We start our day on Wednesday at Arusha airport for a private charter flight directly into Serengeti National Park and our private lodge. We and immediately begin seeing wildlife, and this remains the theme for the next few days. We'll get up close and personal to everything from giant elephants to tiny antelope - and everything in between.

The star of the show is viewing the Great Migration, where hundreds of thousand of wildebeest along with untold numbers of zebra and antelope gather to feed. We'll visit during calving season, when two to three thousand babies are born every day - which brings out the predators in full force. Lions, leopard, hyena, and lots more are sure to make an appearance. The calving season last only a few short weeks each year, and this promises to be the experience of a lifetime.

Wrap up the first part of our safari with an incredible Shabbos Rosh Chodesh out in the bush. Unwind on your private veranda overlooking the Serengeti while indulging in incredible food, wine, and fantastic company.

Days 6-8, Sunday - Tuesday

Unbelievable Uganda

Say goodbye to Tanzania as you board our chartered plane to Uganda. After a quick stop in Entebbe International Airport for custom and health formalities, we continue to the Kisoro Airstrip deep in the mountains of Uganda.

This is the "real" Africa, where people live off the land, women carry the crops to market on their heads, and the natural beauty is awe-inspiring. This is the land of mountains and mist, of tiny colorful birds and the critically endangered mountain gorilla. Getting to our remote lodge is an adventure onto itself, with views of volcanoes, tea and banana fields, and stunning lakes.

Our lodge is nestled high in the mountains overlooking Uganda's most scenic lake. Each individual cottage had a private veranda overlooking the lake, its many islands, and - if the weather in the neighboring Congo is clear - an actual active volcano.

On Monday we head out for a once-in-a-lifetime adventure: tracking gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest National Park. There are only around a thousand mountain gorillas remaining on earth, and over 400 live here. We'll hike through virgin jungle with our guides and porters, while the trackers who have gone out earlier report the gorilla's location so we can make the most direct route.

We'll get right up close and personal with the gorillas and spend a magical hour with them. The silverback and adult females will typically ignore us and go about their daily business, while the babies may try to show off their antics to get our attention. This is truly an incredibly unique experience which is sure to remain with you for a long, long time.

Finally, on Tuesday morning, it is time to say goodbye with a final chartered flight to Entebbe and your continuing flight home.
